A simple DIY iPhone photo booth for a party

By Juste Tools · Published

A phone, a stable support, one consistent light and a clear four-pose prompt make a workable party photo booth. Put the setup somewhere people can use it without blocking a doorway. Do a complete test session before guests arrive.

Set up a repeatable station

Use a plain wall or curtain and place the phone at a comfortable face height. Tape a small position marker to the floor if that helps groups stay in frame. Avoid unstable stacks of furniture, trailing leads and props that can knock the phone over.

  • Test with the largest group you expect to fit.
  • Keep a short pose card beside the phone: smile, look sideways, match a gesture, laugh.
  • Give people somewhere to put drinks before the session.

Plan the handover

Decide who starts each session and how guests receive their strips. Sharing one finished image directly is simpler than giving people access to an entire private album. Ask before sending or publicly posting anyone's photo. Leave time between groups to reset props and check the framing.

Use a device you are comfortable handing over, and keep unrelated personal apps and notifications away from the station. A phone booth is not an unattended commercial kiosk; a host nearby can resolve mistakes without guests browsing the rest of the device.

Keep printing separate

If you want paper keepsakes, test your exported image with the printer beforehand. Check the crop, paper supply and transfer method. A digital-only booth is still complete: guests can save their strip and print it later, without a queue forming around the printer.
