How to print photo strips at home
By Juste Tools · Published
To print a photo strip at home, export the finished image, open it in a printing app you already use and choose a layout that keeps the whole strip visible. Flashroom makes the image; your printer and its software handle paper size, margins and colour.
Prepare the file
Keep a full-quality export, rather than saving a screenshot of the preview. If the phone can reach your printer through its normal printing workflow, use that; otherwise transfer the exported image to your computer. The app does not need a dedicated printer connection for you to print a saved image elsewhere.
- Select the paper size that is actually loaded in the printer.
- Use a fit option if fill would cut off the top or bottom frame.
- Turn off automatic enlargement when it removes the strip border.
Put more than one strip on a sheet
If your printing software supports a page layout, arrange multiple copies with a small gap for cutting. Keep every strip at the same proportions. A vertical strip fits differently from a 2×2 sheet, so check the preview each time you change layout.
Start with ordinary paper to confirm scale and crop. Use the printer maker's instructions for supported photo paper, loading direction and quality settings; do not assume any glossy sheet works in every printer.
Check and trim the proof
Let the print settle as directed for that ink and paper, then trim outside the image border. Check whether the darkest frame still shows expression and whether the paper has cut anything off. Keep one digital original and only adjust a copy when testing another size.
